brand yourself

This photo series is documentation of my performance, "Brand Yourself." I constructed a dress made entirely of my business cards from the corporate advertising company I previously worked for and wore nothing but it on a two and a half mile walk in my hometown's shopping and financial district. I censored the company's logo with round red stickers to indicate a bought and sold object. My intention with this performance was to take back ownership of my body and identity after the exploitation I saw of myself and others working in the corporate advertising sphere. I walked the amount of years I worked in miles in an effort to re-create the experience under my own terms.
The dress acts as a cage, limiting my movement and obscuring my figure beneath. Photos by Stephen Sanchez.
